The brief
As part of my self-initiated final uni project, and through my own personal interests in fashion and women’s rights, I chose to develop a visual, typographic, and written exploration of the misogyny plaguing the clothesmaking industry.
Fault sets out to highlight just how paramount women are in the success of the industry: from disproportionately being the producers of clothes, systemically limited in terms of senior design careers (due to the fashion-oriented ‘glass runway’), often exploited as models, as well as being scrutinised under the ‘male gaze’ and feeling pressure to dress in order to conform to patriarchal expectations.
